Formed by chance in April, 2006, four exceptional singers of a cappella harmony accepted an invitation to perform as a group just three months (and but three rehearsals) later.
That first show took place in Peterborough, New Hampshire, inspiration for Thornton Wilder’s classic play, Our Town. Hence, the quartet’s name.
Much like the play, OUR TOWN quartet embraces traditional American values. They seek out traditional songs by great American writers and composers; songs that lend themselves to four-part harmony singing, a unique American art form.
Influenced by popular quartets of the past - including the Mills Brothers, Buffalo Bills and SunTones - the group strives for audiences to leave performances humming the songs they heard the quartet sing.
Our Town has a style and sound unique to four voices singing a cappella. “To call them a quartet is, of course, a misnomer. They sound more like a small chorus.” wrote one reviewer.
Members of the group include Scott Brannon (lead), Jamie Carbone (tenor), Terry Clarke (bass), and Larry Tully (baritone). They assert that their names appear alphabetically according to surname, “not according to prowess, talent or good looks.”

All four boast outstanding credentials within Barbershop Harmony Society circles. Jamie sang tenor for two well known Mid Atlantic District (MAD) champion quartets – the popular Cracker Jacks and International semi-finalists DoubleTake. It was while singing with the Cracker Jacks that Jamie met and sang with Scott Brannon when he joined that quartet.
Scott previously sang lead with the Johnny Appleseed District (JAD) quartet champions, Cincinnati Kids, who also went on to International competition where they won widespread acclaim and several medals. (Many people – besides their family members –
thought “The Kids’ should have been awarded the gold.) Scott also directed the Big Apple (New York City) men’s chorus to two MAD championships and four top ten finishes in International competition.
The remaining voices within OUR TOWN include two gold medalists, Larry Tully and Terry Clarke. The two sang baritone and bass respectively with The Boston Common, Barbershop Harmony Society champions.
All four have sung in some of the finest performance halls in the world including Carnegie Hall. They’ve traveled extensively and performed on national radio and television, on luxury cruises and before national and international dignitaries and celebrities. They appear on occasion at Birdland, the famous New York City nightclub.
From Rutherford, NJ, Jamie is married with five kids, and serves as an independent manufacturers’ representative for several electronics firms. Scott resides in Mt. Kisko, NY. A father, he professionally sings, acts, teaches and continues to direct several choruses in the New York vicinity. Larry and his wife have a son and a daughter and live comfortably in Westfield, MA. Terry hails from Hingham, MA where he heads a marketing communications firm and teaches at Boston University. He and his wife have two sons.
